Vitamin D

Posté par Marie Reynolds le
Vitamin D

The BBC recently reported that we are not getting enough vitamin D in the winter months, it included a statement from Public Health England  advising that vitamin D supplements should be taken throughout the year.

Vitamin D helps the absorption of calcium which as we all know is good for skeletal health, so vitamin D deficiency can cause osteoporosis. It can also cause liver disease, muscle weakness, joint pain, depression and skin ageing.

Vitamin D, although is made in the Liver it is dependent from UV light via the skin and diet. It has to pass through the Kidneys and Liver before it turns into its active form, where it is circulated around the body.

As we age, not only does collagen decrease but so to does vitamin D (up to 75 percent from the age of 20 onwards). Apart from the general health benefits of vitamin D it is also crucial for healthy looking skin and healthy ageing. It helps reduce acne, boost elasticity, stimulate collagen synthesis, rejuvenates, lessen lines and the appearance of pigmentation.

Vitamin D is  the General when it comes to the natural immune defense mechanisms of the skin but with the risk of skin cancers, using high sunscreens, avoiding the sun, poor diets and no supplements vitamin D deficiencies are high.

D3-K2 Lipo Spray is a synergistic blend of the prohormone vitamin, D3, and the fat-soluble, vitamin K2, which work together to regulate calcium uptake and maintain the integrity of the skeletal and cardiovascular systems. (Vitamin D2 is a plant source of vitamin D and doesn’t require sunlight to begin the benefits of vitamin D).

Always seek professional advise when taking supplements!
